SYNOPSIS

This production was the official entry of the Philippines for the Hektomeron Project 2020, a festival running for one hundred days presenting Giovanni Bocaccio’s one-hundred tales contained in the Decameron. This production’s take on ‘The Hektomeron: Day 1, Story 1’ is an adaptation of the first of the stories in the Decameron, where a man named Ciapelleto is hailed as a saint after his death, as a result of his falsified confession, despite his actual immoral life. This adaptation juxtaposed Ciapelleto’s story with the political corruption going on in the Philippines, through the story of an innocent killed at the hands of the drug war and their journey through the underworld.
